One of the two muslims charged with murdering Calgary police Sgt. Andrew Harnett had warrants out for his arrest. Amir Abdulrahman, 19, was a passenger in the SUV that rammed and dragged Sgt. Andrew Harnett to his death on December 30, 2020, and was on the run from assault charges.
The vehicle was pulled over by Sgt. Andrew Harnett while other officers approached Amir Abdulrahman in the passenger seat. The driver, Al-Azan Shah Muhammad, 17, in order to avoid the detention of Amir Abdulrahman by police, sped away striking Sgt. Harnett and dragging him along the road for half a kilometre. The officer later died in hospital.
17 year old Al-Azan Shah Muhammad will next appear in court for a bail hearing on January 19.
