The data harvester Facebook (including WhatsApp) is too powerful and has a monopoly position. Now 40 US states want to file antitrust lawsuits against Facebook.
As reported by CNBC and Breitbart, 40 US states, led by New York, want to file antitrust lawsuits against Marc Zuckerberg’s Internet giant Facebook. The lawsuits could be filed as early as this week, they said.
The lawsuit would be the second major case against a major technology company this year. The Justice Department brought a lawsuit against Google in October.
The question is whether Facebook, as a data giant and quasi-monopoly in the field of social media, has abused its market power.
Facebook has been criticized by both Republicans and Democrats in Congress, as well as President Trump and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. Democrats claim the social media giant allowed too much freedom and under-censored on its platform, while many Republicans point out that Facebook has often suppressed conservative voices.
