We the People Convention petition: If Joe Biden becomes president, there will be “no peaceful way to preserve our union.”
Former National Security Advisor and General Michael Flynn on Tuesday campaigned for a petition urging President Donald Trump to temporarily suspend the U.S. Constitution, declare martial law and order the military to oversee a new national election for the 2020 presidential election, as WND reported.
The petition, released Tuesday by Ohio-based nonprofit group We The People Convention , said that following President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, there was “no peaceful way to preserve our Union,” and urged Trump to exercise his “extraordinary authority” to avert a second civil war.
“Limited martial law is clearly a better option than civil war,” read a letter accompanying the petition.
Flynn, who last Wednesday granted Trump a pardon on the retired Army General’s December 2017 admission of guilt for making false statements to the FBI, tweeted a link to the petition Tuesday evening.
“Freedom just kneels before God,” Flynn tweeted.
The cover letter accompanying the petition said Trump must be ready to act as former President Abraham Lincoln did at the start of the Civil War in the early 1860s, including an order “to shut down hundreds of Northern newspapers that spoke against him and their owners and editors arrested.”
Lincoln had ordered the arrest of an Ohio congressman “for the crime of speaking out against him,” and ordered the arrest of thousands of Maryland citizens for the crime of “suspected Southern sympathies,” some of whom spent years without trial in military prisons.
“Many will object to these actions as they did in Lincoln’s day, but we assure you that We the People understand that no less action will suffice to prevent the loss of our constitutional right to vote and preserve our Republic,” it said in the cover letter.
Trump’s imposition of martial law and the temporary suspension of the constitution should be done solely for the sole purpose, the letter also said, that the military oversee a national re-vote that “reflects the real will of the people.”
Pro-Trump attorney Lin Wood also promoted the petition on Tuesday and tweeted that Trump should “declare martial law” to avert a civil war fueled by bad actors led by communist China.
Trump said Thursday he would leave the White House if the electoral college formally declares Biden the winner of the 2020 election.
